Layfield Adds Additional Co-Extrusion Capacity

 

Richmond, British Columbia - Layfield Poly Films Ltd. has further expanded its production capabilities with the installation and start-up of a new three-layer co-extrusion line at its Richmond, BC extrusion plant. Gloucester Engineering Co., a leading producer of blown film systems, supplied the new line.

 

Installation of the new Gloucester line, has given Layfield’s plant the ability to vastly increase the output and variety of innovative multilayer film structures it offers. The enhanced co-extrusion product offering includes: differential slip bags, gas flush packaging, barrier films, stretch hooder films and co-ex converter grade sheeting.  “We have gained capacity, versatility and efficiency to run a wider variety of films to meet the growing needs of our customers,” says Jared Sauder, Regional Sales Manager - BC.

 

This is the second co-extrusion line Layfield has added to its films operations in the past four years. “We are committed to continuing to make capital investments to support our customers and extend our market leadership position,” said Layfield’s General Manager, Mark Rose.

 

The addition of this 3-layer co-extrusion line is part of the company’s overall capital growth strategy and its commitment to producing high quality packaging films. The new line adds 6 million pounds of co-ex capacity, and this is above and beyond the 10 million pounds of co-extruded capacity that was originally added in 2005.
